ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY
With the help of a special probe, which emits and receives the ultrasound waves, heart structures can be depicted in temporal and spatial resolution. This way it is possible to make a statement about the size and the function of the heart as well as the condition of the heart sac and heart valve. During the doppler echocardiography, blood flow can be measured and colorfully depicted as part of color duplex examination. This way possible valve dysfunction can be detected and the degree of their severity can be assessed. A heart damage, e.g. caused by high blood pressure, can be detected at an early stage.
